I was then told to do another banner, this time to purely promote the holiday.

I was given a list of details and information to include;

The date of holiday

The price

The destination

What they get for the price

Contact details

So i threw a few ideas around, this b

eing pretty easy and quick as i had already pretty much made one of these, (the flyer) so it was making th

at look better really! and this time i had more space to play with as the banner is going to be rather nice'n'big!

I made a few various designs, i wasnt sure if it looked better with or without the bright cmy, hmmmm after some thought and comparing the designs against each other i got it down to 2 designs...

Im pretty much torn between them at this moment in time, so i will just show them to the committee and take a vote on which one to use!

Banner 1

I was then told to design a banner to promote the club, this banner being  purely to let people know who we are, specifically when we travel the country in competitions and what not, i wasnt given much direction so it was open for me to do what i pleased! 

I wanted to keep it simple but keep it with the reoccurring style of colour etc. The main thing i thought was to definitely use purple, because the hoodys will be purple so essentially that is what we are for the year to all the o

ther uni teams, the ones in the purple hoodys is leeds met!

So i made this...  

Its going to look good.

Poster/flyer

The next thing i had to design was a poster and a flyer to promote the club and to advertise the holiday, which is really the biggest selling point of the club!

I wasnt really sure of what we (we being the committee) wanted to be put on the poster or the flyer, so i got the president of the committee to come round and pretty much direct me what he wanted on it and i made it look all visibly nice which is kinda like the real world, so it was a good experience and i quite enjoyed it! Anyway, with this design process i didnt end

 up with a illustrator file with numerous designs on, i literally just had one and this was it...

So here it is, i like it and so did the president so i did good. The only problem we did have is that we didnt really know if this should be used for the flyer and the poster, the difference being that the flyer would just be smaller! So as far i know, thats whats happening! 

Hoody

After talking cost quotes, quantity and colour choices with several different companies i now need to start sending off the actual designs, 

This was the first design i sent of to the company, i really likes it i does! However i shortly got back an email saying that the design was not possible as they were unable to print over the hoody pocket, which had actually come to mind. Anyway i emailed back with the query of printing on the side of the hoody, so it not being over the pocket, as well as this i sent of the design below as an alternative!  

Final Logo

At the moment, i kind of have two logos on my hands, one original logo with the cmyk colour scheme which has been used so far for the website and facebook page etc! Then the other black and white which i have used mainly on the hoodys, the reason for this being, well firstly cost restrictions as obviously cmyk=4 colours, its gonna raise the price of the hoodys and i think it looks better in just black and white! 

Anyway the final logo which will be put on the hoodys and possibly on banners and some flyers is...

Leeds Met Snowsports, Hoody

After talking to the committee members we came to the decision of having a purple hoody with a black&white colour designs, this all dependent on the cost of colours however. 

So i went and firstly changed the colours of the design and then played with the layout of the logo and the type on the hoody itself, 

Here playing around with both the logo and type on the front together till the later two where i have put one on back and one on front. Out of the above i prefer the top left and middle right, with t shirts and hoodys in general i like designs which climb up the body, and the other i like as its nice and simple, easy to read and follow!

These designs above show 3 different layouts, of the front and back of the hoody. I dont have a fave out of them, however i think the type on the back vertically and the logo on the front left breast would be lovely jublee! This again needing the feedback and opinions of the rest of the committee.

One of the veterans of Leeds met snowsports is a qualified web designer and out of the kindness of his heart created a page for us, not fully made yet but this is a draft version of the website. 

He took my typeface and colour scheme design and made this beauty!

Also the website contains the promo video for the club which was created by another committee member, again using my typeface and colour scheme.

Here taking the logo design, deciding that the /'s look best like so, and then using the same colour scheme as the typeface as to coincide with one another!

It was at this point after showing all my designs to the rest of the committee that i was told i couldnt use rose as the third image due to the uni basically not allowing it, boo! 

Nevermind, after a brief second i thought, well its a bit cliche but a snowflake? 

I think it looks pretty good! Thankfully the committee agreed!

One thing that i knew all along was that i would not be able to use the CMYK colour scheme for the hoody's due to the cost of printing several colours, so i now have to go away and decide with the committee the colour scheme for next years hoody.

So moving onto the logo, again no real initial ideas, i wasnt sure what people would want or prefer, something that covered a lot of the hoody, or something small that again could be versatile in terms of where it goes and what it is used for. 

Bit of time later i came up with an idea of a l

ittle logo that would go with and compliment the typeface, in my mind it was 3 /'s with each one having a certain image inside, one being a snowboarder, the other a skier and with a bit more thought the 3rd would have the image of the Leeds Met logo, which is a rose. 

Initial Designs:

I found a bit of difficulty with how to place the 3 /'s  and as of yet am not satisfied with the current layouts, however i am quite fond of the 3 images and how the /'s break to form them.

Leeds Met Snowsports

Earlier this year i managed to hustle my way onto the committee of Leeds Met Snowsports for the year 09/10. One of the aims of this new committee is to drastically expand the club attracting more people from the uni to join, competing for us across the UK and Europe but more importantly getting super silly smashed with us! 

Anyway every year the club has a huge order of designed hoody's made, which we then sell on to the memebers, now being a cheeky designer myself i volunteered to design the hoodys. These consisting of the type, 'Leeds Met Sn

owsports' and a designed logo/pattern. 

The first thing i chose to do was to play around with the title of Leeds Met Snowsports. I didnt have any real initial design ideas but i knew i wanted it to be versatile and something that could be used not only for the hoody's but for a website, flyers, t-shirts, leaflets and any promo stuff. 

 

Excuse the cliche use of Helvetica Neue and CMYK colour scheme, but its just a quick and easy way to make initial ideas look better, then again it will be for commercial use and is targeted at students, and students love CMYK! fact. 

With the layout of the words atm my fave is the leeds met on top and snowsports on bottom and for just for fun putting my own little thing in there with the 3 /'s. 

I was torn after this between the standard helvetica and the bottom typeface, Birth of a Hero.

What i liked about the bottom typeface was the faded, rough edges throughout, so i tried to create that with the Helvetica. 

There it is sportsfans, cheeky bit of splatter, looks a bit like snow no? I was happy with it and although it didnt take long i think i might keep it as the feedback i got from the other committee members was all positive!
